CROATIANS IN THE WORLD

PROJECT

A short time ago I began assisting prof. dr. sci. Ivan Dumbovic

from Lekenik on the Croatians in the World Encyclopedia project. Mister Dumbovic was a professor of  the Faculty of Philosophy at the University in Zagreb, sadly on October 8th 2008 he passed away.

The Dumbovic family will continue the process of publishing this great project which Prof. Ivan had been working on since 1971. We would be very honoured and grateful if Croatian communities worldwide offered their valuable help and support to this Encyclopedia.

Prof. Ivan Dumbovic wrote the Encyclopedia and we're happy to anounce that the following great people and scientists are its editors:

Dr. Sc. Marijan Brajinović from Vienna, Austria

Dr. Sc Ćorić, Šito Šimun from Switzerland

Dr. Sc. Josip Ivanović from Subotica, Serbia

Dr. Sc. Šime Ivanjko from Maribor, Slovenia

Dr. Sc. Ivo Komšić from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegowina

Dr. Sc. Vinko Šokčević from Pecz in Hungary

Dipl. Iur. Mato Tkalčević from St. Alban in Australia,

Dragutin Šurbek from Zagreb.

We think that Croatian history was made both in Croatia and also by Croats who brought influences from abroad, and Croatians who left their motherland to settle in the worldwide diaspora.

Me personaly, I would l very much like to thank the following people and organisations for their help and support with this project:

Nenad Bach

Ivan Ott

prof. Ivan Matarić

dr. Šimun Š. Ćorić

Vlado Franjević

Borivoj Bukva

MAGICUS.INFO

AKADEMIJA-ART

CROATIAN DIASPORA COMMUNITY (XING)

and we hope very much for similar support from other dear and good meaning Croats from all over the world.

We would like to make clear that this project is not in any way political but is intended as a guide to the cultural and social entity called - Croatia. I must say here also that I'm sorry to know that Prof. Dr. Ivan Dumbovic didn't receive very much support from relevant Croatian institutions, which would have helped make the realisation of this great and worthwhile project more secure. His only replies from them were negative, or else he was ignored. We hope that Croatians in the world see the true potential of this Encyclopedia and the great importance of the project.

CALL FOR ENTRY

We invite proposals for entries about thousands of eminent and well-known economists, sportsmen, university people, artists, scientists...

Dear and honoured leaders of Croats (and people with Croatian roots) from out of the homeland, in diaspora!

In researching the enterprises of Croats in their Homeland and in the world, we came to the conclusion that we're a small population but a big nation, because during more then one thousand years of our known history we have had good relationships with countries far and near. We participate very well in the world of science, culture, art, politics and in many kinds of economies, organisations, establishments, sport, medicine, in public education, universities...

Finally the time has come to publish a comprehensive volume of biographical, lexical and encyclopaedic information under the title >>>CROATS IN THE WORLD<<< . We already have valuable volumes about Croats in different countries and their religions which we have used as part of our research. We have also more then five hundred Croatian and foreign encyclopaedias, yearbooks, histories of different scientific disciplines, works like "Who's Who" and others, where Croats are included.

We have already begun to compile CROATS IN THE WORLD with the names of all personalities which we found in the literature. We will also collect data about all university and highly educated people in different occupations. And, we'll also collect material about all other suggested well known Croats. Therefore we call on you to suggest some of the names which we haven't yet included. We need material about well known Croats, men and women (or also people with Croatian roots) who had important contact with foreign countries or who predominantly or exclusively lived and worked there.

We need: name, place and date of the birth (or/and death), family roots and some details about from where exactly the people (or theirs ancestors) came to their new homeland, information about their education, names of schools, for MAs and Doctors of Sciences we also need the titles of papers and doctorate works, important data about enterprises, work-places and information about achievements in career, all important public activities, results, prizes, honours, published works, works about him or her...

Length of biographies about the individuals -  just send the relevant info material (without condensing). We are grateful to all dear ladies and gents who can help and support us with information about the Croats or people with Croatian roots (or about yourself, if compatible with noted criterion).

Criterion for being a part of our project and notification in the encyclopaedia is reference to the name in one former book / literature / paper... which will be noted with abbreviations close to the individual entries and after quoted passages (we'll also acknowledge in this publication our co-workers and donators).

We would really like to note in our book ALL the most important Croats all over the world without any bias towards or against politics, religions etc... Our goal is to publish one important and interesting book with possibly five editions, with each of these having 1000 entries or more.

Many greetings and thank you so much in advance for your cooperation and support and possible sponsoring.

Sponsoring is possible also, if you take out a subscription for a little bit more Exemplars of this Encyclopaedia (let’s say, more then 10 pieces) we’ll also note you as a sponsoring Croat in our book!

All of you who would love support our project financially, please write to me dubrava13@gmail.com
